Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi the main aspects of the activities of the United Nations, with a focus on deepening interaction between the two countries in the organization.
"Lavrov and Wang strongly criticized Washington's provocative and destructive foreign policy when they discussed the situation in the Taiwan Strait," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement after the two ministers met yesterday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
The statement indicated that the two ministers also discussed the situation in Ukraine, Afghanistan, the Korean Peninsula and the nuclear non-proliferation regime.
During the meeting, the need for the unconditional fulfillment of all obligations by the host country, the United States, was emphasized to ensure the work of the United Nations General Assembly and unhindered access to its headquarters in New York for foreign delegates.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the meeting between Lavrov and Wang showed a high degree of understanding about Russia and China's approaches to global affairs.
