The municipal councils of Forstern and Moosinning have dealt with the topic of saving energy.

Among other things, it's about lower temperatures and switched off street lights.

Forstern/Moosinning

– Mayor Rainer Streu (AWG) explained that thanks to the CO2 traffic lights from the Corona period, the temperature in the offices can be easily monitored.

In addition, the lighting at City Hall was adjusted.

At the fire station, the outdoor lighting is also shut down, at 10 p.m. it goes out completely.

In the interior of the tool shed, the temperature is also lowered; thermostats, which transmit the values directly to the cell phone, help here.

The temperature is also being tightened in the school gymnasiums.

The small gym in particular is “often very well heated,” said Streu.

The large gymnasium, on the other hand, has a very complicated heating system, but here, too, one goes down by two degrees.

Forstern: Less light in the settlements?

Street lighting is also on the list of potential savings.

Half of the 18 lanterns in Klassendorf have been converted to LED lamp heads.

So far, whenever an old lamp head broke, one with an LED was installed.

In Forstern, Tading and Karlsdorf there are a total of 352 lighting points via the Sempt EW, 71 of which have LEDs.

The electricity supplier offered to think about another change together.

"There are also subsidies, you could look at that," said Streu.

In addition, it would be possible to switch off the light completely in some areas of settlements after 10 p.m.

Of course, that doesn't work where it is necessary for safety reasons, such as in crossing areas.

Anette Sharmatinat suggested that maybe only every second lamp should be on.

And Thorsten Sharmatinat (both Greens) said that the municipality should then also monitor what the measures bring - also as an incentive for citizens to save energy.

At the October meeting, the committee will deal with the topic in more detail.

Moosinning: Cold water at the sports facilities

The municipality of Moosinning also has to save energy.

This was announced by Mayor Georg Nagler (SPD) on Tuesday in the municipal council with reference to the Federal Government's Energy Saving Ordinance.

"We will turn off the lights in the churches and the Plague Chapel as soon as possible," he said.

Furthermore, the room temperatures in non-residential buildings – with the exception of schools and kindergartens – will be reduced to 19 degrees.

And the drinking water heating systems in fire stations, community centres, building yards, town hall and sports facilities are switched off.

They are also considering "switching off the street lamps from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.".

It doesn't work on the main road, "but in the side streets and residential areas".

"For safety reasons, I wouldn't switch off the lanterns that early, at 11 p.m. there are still a lot of people out and about," Manfred Lex (CSU) pointed out.

Andreas Humplmair (CSU) went further and suggested leaving the lanterns on until midnight.

The mayor rejected Monika Stangl's (CSU) proposal to equip lanterns with motion detectors: "It's too expensive."

Moosinning: Streetlights go out from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m

Christian Nagler (BB) and Helmut Scharlach (BB) spoke out against cold water at sports facilities.

"We want people to do sports, so they should be given warm water," said Christian Nagler.

He could only speak for girls' football, said Scarlet.

"But we sometimes have opponents who come from 80 to 100 kilometers away, I can't send them home dirty." Georg Nagler replied that one was bound by the regulation.

Otto Kellermann (AfD) wanted to know whether "everything stays dark" in the outer areas like Eching or Kempfing.

The mayor announced that it would be done everywhere on a trial basis.

The councils eventually agreed to turn off the lanterns from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.
