Today, the General Authority for Scientific Agricultural Research, in cooperation with Tartous University, tested a machine for smoothing and leveling the soil at Zahid Research Station, prepared, designed and implemented by doctoral student, Engineer Mohamed Mayos.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Meos stated that the machine is a PhD project as well as a new model that combines two machines in one machine and meets the needs of farmers and took nearly two years to complete. It is also characterized as a hydraulic machine and is an ideal solution for leveling agricultural land and reducing water consumption.

Mayos pointed out that the machine was manufactured by local expertise in the Tartous Industrial Zone and is characterized by its importance, especially in agricultural lands, as it performs two stages, the first is to smooth the land and break up the soil after plowing, and the second is to make the land flat to achieve an accuracy of 4 cm settlement, and then perform a soil compaction process.

The supervisor of the research project, Dr. Suleiman Salama, indicated that the Technical Engineering Department at Tartous University indicated that the machine is suitable for all types of agricultural soils, as it was tested on the most difficult types, describing the result of the settlement as wonderful.

The Director General of the General Authority for Scientific Agricultural Research, Dr. Magda Mufleh, explained that the machine was invented by a graduate student, and the authority provides all the necessary needs for their research, and this is one of the basics and priorities of the work of the authority.

The head of the Tartous Research Center, Dr. Shadi Faskha, confirmed that the machine was designed, implemented and financed by a national cadre, pointing out that the idea of the machine was derived in practice from the Akkar Plain where the land is closed, where dirt blocks are formed, so a machine was designed to smooth and level the land to solve this problem with the aim of preparing and paving it later to be planted.
