The project:

Renovation of a private house in one of the Sharon cities

Residents:

a couple in their 40s and their three young children

Area:

220 square meters

Renovation duration:

about six months

Architectural planning and design:

architect Shlomit Zaldman

Many challenging houses, built decades ago, are undergoing facelifts and necessary adjustments For the 21st century, so is the home of a family from one of the cities of the Sharon, which has undergone a real transformation. The architect Shlomit Zaldman, created for them a meticulous living environment that pays great respect to industrial and natural textures and materials. One of the most significant changes was the MMD, which was originally built in the center of the public space and became a powerful design element in the design of the room.

The house of this family, eight pairs of parents and three children, was built about 25 years ago in the heart of an old neighborhood in one of the Sharon cities.

They renovated it when they moved in about a decade ago and now, the time is ripe to turn it into a pleasant and experiential living environment that fits precisely the fine taste of the couple and the needs of the family that have changed over the years.

For the sake of the matter, they turned to Zeldman, owner of an architecture, planning and design office, whose style is characterized by a clean and meticulous aesthetic.

"Became a decorative element that blends harmoniously into the dining area and kitchen."

"As part of the renovation process, the house changed its face beyond recognition - exterior and interior. The facades underwent a facelift, openings were widened, we made an addition, crushed the existing staircase which was replaced with a new one and more," according to Zeldman.

"It was important to the couple that the exterior of the house would blend in with its natural environment, the dramatic change is evident inside where we implemented an aesthetic in every corner that pays a lot of respect to textures and materials. One of the challenges was the MMAD that is built right in the heart of the entrance floor, it crosses the public functions and looks like a foreign plant.

We decided to turn the lemon into a lemonade - we covered its outer shell, the one facing the public space, with combed oak cubes which we highlighted with hidden peripheral lighting and disconnection by lowering the ceiling.

Thus, it became a decorative element that blends harmoniously into the surroundings of the dining area and the kitchen."

Zeldman chose the entrance floor to be tiled with Moreno Gray marble tiles which she polished to get a continuous and continuous look.

The old and massive staircase was demolished and a new, elegant and much more modern staircase was designed in its place: "It was important to me that the stairs speak to the edge of the house. For this we used a constructor and used a special concrete in which additives are combined that allow it to be very strong and durable even with a smaller mass of material. The new casting was complex to execute and required levels of precision - this is how we achieved the dissonance between the massive concrete and the thinness of the actual stairs. The balustrade was implanted as a billet even before the casting itself. In order to preserve the same light and floating appearance, we used thin steel cables.

"Organic and natural artwork".

Another challenge was the size of the original kitchen.

In order to create a much more functional space for the family members, it was decided to carry out a construction addition that led to a significant change: "It is about 10 square meters in total, which created a fundamental difference in the flow in the space," explains Zaldman. "The kitchen was designed with clean, geometric lines in a uniform color with aluminum frames.

The facades adjacent to the wall are painted in a gray mocha shade, the surfaces are natural granite stone surfaces with fine veins and the island is made of aluminum.

All of these blend wonderfully with the wooden walls that surround the MMD and participate in the scene."

"The dining area is actually the first space you see when you enter the house, so it was important to me to design it as an organic and natural work of art. For the sake of the matter, we carefully chose a very special natural granite stone slab, for which we built an iron base. The minimalist black chairs allow it to shine in the heart of the space, and all of these are joined by the natural garden Revealed from the outside," explains Zaldman.

The living room also underwent a real facelift: one of the original openings was expanded to its maximum size into a permanent glass facade that brings the treated courtyard inside in full force.

Next to it, Zaldman designed another storefront facade from which you can go out into the garden.

In the center of the living room is a powerful library covered with aluminum panels with a wash effect, behind which the floor's air conditioning units are also hidden.

The sitting area is especially fun and pampering thanks to a reclining sofa made of leather filled with feathers for a particularly pleasant and cozy sitting.

The guest toilets are located behind the wall of the staircase: "We entered them with the marble floor of the floor as well and we covered the walls with large and precise porcelain granite tiles in a light shade. The sink cabinet is made of Corian - in the upper part smooth and in the front with a combed finish that adds a dimension of texture. The mirror and the lighting fixtures were designed as one array These are circles that go inside each other," says Zeldman.

On the living floor are the children's bedrooms with a shared bathroom, the master bedroom for the parents and a smart service area in the heart of the hallway, which contains important functions: "The floor is not very large, so it was important for me to optimize its functions and use every centimeter properly. In the hallway I created a utility closet in The washing machine, the dryer and other products are hidden, such as Tami 4, for example, which is mainly used by the children when they want to drink during the night. We hid all these functions behind a ventilated and grooved facade that was painted with epoxy paint. The floor is covered with smoked oak parquet in a fishbone layout, which gives it a dimension of warmth. The children's rooms were designed with reference to their hobbies and tastes and the shared bathroom was designed with classic and clean lines that will remain relevant even in years to come."

There's even Tammy 4 in case the kids get thirsty at night.

The parents' master has become an island of silence thanks to the enveloping and pleasant design and the addition of the upstairs balcony, which until the renovation was accessed through the rooms.

Now the exit is through the couple's bedroom and it is dedicated to their exclusive use.

"The bedroom is not very large, so the addition of the balcony led to a dramatic change," explains Zaldman.

"We maintained cleanliness and minimalism to give the sleeping area a more spacious look. In order to give a warm and personal feeling, we combined a CUSTOM MADE dresser ordered from a carpenter, side chests and art."

Specially ordered chests of drawers and works of art give the personal and kind touch to the design of the room.

The adjoining bathroom is also not particularly large, but it is undoubtedly very well-invested: "We covered the walls with super white granite - a natural stone with a powerful pattern that adds visual richness to the clean space. At the end of the space, a large and luxurious shower awaits the couple with a floating bench, a hidden niche for soaps and two Faucet systems for a double shower. The indulgence didn't stop there: for them we combined speakers in the ceiling, underfloor heating and a smart toilet that includes washing and drying functions. The bath cabinet is made of combed oak veneer painted white on the back of a Corian surface. They blend wonderfully into the monochromatic space and at the same time add interest to it ", concludes Zeldman.
