Train like the pros: Thanks to digital measurement sensors, the renovated track in Peiting is one of the most modern in Bavaria

The track and field athletes of TSV Peiting will be able to train under professional conditions in the future: After the general renovation, their track is equipped with digital measuring sensors and is therefore one of the most modern tracks in Bavaria.

Peiting – chilli red and high-tech: That's how it came about, the renewed running track in the Peitinger sports stadium.

It is now one of the most modern railways in Bavaria, comparable ones next to Peiting can only be found in the University of Augsburg and the Technical University of Munich.

"We're in good company there," said Mayor Peter Ostenrieder, who symbolically handed over the key to the career to those responsible at TSV Peiting last Monday.

The TSV hopes that the state-of-the-art track will appeal to young people and get them excited about athletics.

"Perhaps we can then build on the successes of the past few years," hopes Franz Reßler, head of the athletics department at TSV.

The railway was built in 1981 and after an initial renovation in 1997, it was now time to bring the facility back into a contemporary and future-proof condition.

The work was carried out by the Bavarian company "Polytan", which has been one of the leading specialists for sports surfaces for decades.

Together with the adjacent hard court, the renovation cost the municipality of Peiting around 400,000 euros.

"Fortunately, 90 percent of the costs were covered by the Free State of Bavaria as part of a funding program," says Ostenrieder.

The bright track is not only visually appealing, above all it enables track and field athletes to train at an absolute professional level.

With the help of magnets installed under the track, the athletes will be able to document their performance in detail in the future.

All they need is a special sensor that is worn in a belt around the waist.

Every time the athlete passes one of the built-in magnetic barriers, the sensor records the elapsed time.

In addition, other relevant data such as average speed or number of steps are recorded.

Training data can be evaluated on the smartphone

When the training is over, the sensor is connected to a PC or laptop and the athlete can see his performance recorded.

If that takes too long, you can alternatively download the so-called "Smart Run App" onto your smartphone.

Here the results even appear during the run.

Incidentally, the whole thing is possible for everyone, not just for athletes.

Katharina Breuker from the software developer "Humotion" came to Peiting to explain how to use the new technology correctly.

In a training session, everything was explained in detail to interested track and field athletes and middle school sports teachers.

After all the theory, the people from Peiting naturally wanted to put it to the test.

Athlete Andreas Neureuther was responsible for this.

He carried out a test run and was convinced of the new way of training.

Even initially critical observers were visibly impressed by the new technology.

Because whether it's a 400-meter run or training jumps, today's modern athlete does all of that with motion sensors.

Neureuther and the Peitinger track and field athletes now also belong to those.

The conditions have been created to make Reßler's wish come true and to establish Peiting as a new top location for track and field athletes.
