The Oktoberfest weather does not make the organizers very happy.
We looked around in the beer gardens of the tents, where there are no gas heaters.
Munich – Shivering instead of beer bliss: In the outdoor areas of the Wiesn tents, the picture is completely different this year than usual.
This is due to the gray weather on the first days of the Oktoberfest - but also because the innkeepers are not using gas heaters in the beer gardens this year due to the energy crisis.
That's why many tables remain empty outdoors while the party rages on inside.
And the waitresses in the outdoor areas are wet, no, financially too.
Because few guests mean little income.
Background: waitresses and waiters are always assigned to a specific area.
The most serious difference: inside or outside... We took a look around at how the beer garden waiters had fared so far.
Wiesn weather 2022 so far meager - the beer gardens feel that: "We have warm thoughts"
Some take it with humor.
Manuel, beer garden waiter from the Paulaner tent, says: "We're having warm thoughts." The situation is chilly.
For example, a colleague only sold two liters on one of the first Oktoberfest days!
Rafa, who wears three jackets on top of each other, says: "You have your standard editions and nothing comes in …" Colleague Helena wears ski underwear - and says frustrated: "So far, very little has worked."
Oktoberfest 2022: Gas heaters are missing – Corona is also having an effect
One thing in particular bothers the beer garden attendants at the Hackerzelt: "We don't have the gas heaters!" You can tell that many guests don't even come because of the cool temperatures.
"The sale so far is not worth mentioning," says waiter Elke.
Unlike in the pre-Corona years.
"Otherwise you also had lunchtime business with the heating, we didn't have that at all this year," complains Vroni.
And in the evening it will be frosty anyway, even when the weather is nice.
This is particularly noticeable this year, where many visitors would actually rather sit outdoors than celebrate with thousands in the tent because of Corona.
Although the sun should now prevail, but: "It's just too cold, you can't drink any more beer," says waiter Gerda.
Colleague Vroni adds smugly: "We don't sell mulled wine..."
Particularly bitter: Some of the waitresses take extra vacation to be able to work at the Oktoberfest.
If no money comes in, the words apply: caught cold.
