A man has been arrested in Portbou (Girona) accused of killing a woman in the tourist center of Empuriabrava, belonging to Castelló d'Empúries.
The man shot the victim, a German woman in her 60s, with a pistol and used a cushion to silence the shot, according to sources close to the case.
The events have occurred around four in the afternoon, when the Catalan police officers have been required to go to an address where the victim's body was found, which presented possible signs of violence.
The suspect has fled in a motorhome and has finally been arrested by the National Police, in the border municipality of Portbou (Girona), as the
Diari de Girona
has advanced and this newspaper has confirmed.
Inside the vehicle, the agents found a backpack where he hid the 9mm parabellum pistol with which he allegedly shot the woman in the head.
The Mossos have opened an investigation and have reported the facts to the police court and the forensic doctor.
The suspect is being held at the Catalan police station in Figueres and the judge on duty in the municipality has decreed the secrecy of the proceedings.
With this Friday, it is the sixth homicide committed in Catalonia in six days.
