US President Joe Biden last night (Thursday) congratulated Prime Minister Yair Lapid for his words in his speech at the UN General Assembly, according to which he supports the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
"I welcome the courageous statement of Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid at the UN Assembly, according to which 'an agreement with the Palestinians, based on two states for both peoples, is the right thing for Israel's security, Israel's economy and the future of our children.'
I can't agree with him more," Biden wrote on his Twitter account.

The position supporting the two-state solution is the traditional position of the US administrations over the years, and even Biden himself has expressed himself on the issue many times in the past. At the welcome ceremony held for him at Ben Gurion Airport when he arrived in Israel about two months ago, Biden said that "the two-state solution remains the best way to ensure peace and democracy for both the Israelis and the Palestinians." However, Biden admitted that he does not see a realistic possibility for this solution in the near future.

During the Trump administration, the US adopted a new approach that did not see the Palestinian issue as the center of gravity of the Middle East's problems and the main source of them. Instead, the administration worked to achieve separate peace agreements between Israel and Arab countries, assuming that such a development would isolate the Palestinians and put pressure on them to adapt .
On the other hand, the democratic administrations regularly see the solution of the Palestinian issue as a kind of magic formula for solving all the problems of the Middle East and radical Islam, and the policy that Biden holds is a direct continuation of this line.
