Donetsk and Lugansk-Sana
The electoral commissions of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions announced that the polling on the first day of the referendums on joining Russia was marked by a large turnout.
The RIA Novosti news agency quoted the Central Election Commission of the Donetsk People's Republic as saying that the turnout was more than 23 percent on the first day of voting, noting that no violations were recorded.
The head of the Central Election Commission of the Lugansk People's Republic said that the turnout had reached more than 21 percent as of 8:00 p.m. today, Moscow time, when 298,900 citizens voted.
In Zaporozhye, the turnout was more than 20 percent, according to preliminary data of the local election commission.
In Kherson Province, this percentage reached 15 percent until the end of the first day of voting.
"No serious violations were recorded, except for several isolated provocations," the provincial election commission chairwoman confirmed.
Voting in the referendum on the accession of the Lugansk and Donetsk republics and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to Russia began this morning and is scheduled to last 5 days until September 27.
