On Thursday evening, the police noticed a suspicious van on the A8 – then they noticed the strong smell of alcohol.
Brunnthal – A patrol from the Holzkirchen motorway police noticed a suspicious van on Thursday evening.
Around 9:30 p.m., the officials noticed the VW without lights on the A8 towards Munich, according to the press release.
Many indications pointed to a violation of the rules: The van was without lights and was also noticeably slow, the officials report.
Drunk on A8: alcohol test shows well over 2 per thousand
The vehicle, occupied by a 35-year-old from the Munich area, could then be guided from the motorway and stopped at the Hofolding junction, the police continue to inform.
As officers approached the man, they immediately noticed the smell of alcohol.
A voluntary breath alcohol test showed a value above 2 per thousand.
Drunk on A8: The 35-year-old's driver's license is gone for now
The officials could not find out where he came from and why he was so clearly drunk on the road.
It is only due to coincidence that no accident happened, according to the police.
The gentleman now has to answer for drunk driving and the driver's license is gone for an indefinite period of time.
