Four people were killed in an explosion today near a mosque in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

According to Agence France-Presse that the explosion occurred near the entrance to the mosque of Minister Akbar Khan, close to the former fortified Green Zone, which was home to many embassies, killing four people.

Kabul police spokesman Khaled Zadran confirmed the blast and casualties, but did not provide further details.

In turn, the Italian NGO Emergency, which runs a hospital in Kabul, said that "14 people were received, four of whom had died upon arrival."
