Authorities in a suburb of the Indian capital, New Delhi, ordered the closure of schools and urged residents to work from their homes after torrential rains triggered widespread flooding.
Reuters quoted the Meteorological Authority as saying that the "Gurugram" suburb witnessed rainfall of 20 millimeters within 24 hours, which led to widespread flooding that submerged many cars and caused material damage.
And authorities in Bengaluru, the technology center in southern India, were forced this month to use tractors to rescue residents of buildings flooded by torrential rains in several parts of the city.
