Manuel Bombard, LFI deputy for Bouches-du-Rhône, in turn tried to defend his comrade in the National Assembly Adrien Quatennens, targeted by an investigation for domestic violence.

"A slap is not equal to a person who is accused of rape after having drugged the people who accuse him", he also claimed, in an allusion to the ephemeral member of the government Damien Abad, targeted by the denunciations of several women, while recognizing that there is "a presumption of innocence".
He added: "I do not intend to comment for 280 days, a tweet of 280 characters", referring to the decried messages of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader of La France insoumise, on Twitter.

Figure of the party's young guard, Adrien Quatennens admitted to having "given a slap" to his wife, "in a context of extreme tension and mutual aggressiveness".
The deputy, who is under investigation, was put this week "withdrawn from his parliamentary work" by the LFI group in the Assembly.

On Sunday, when Adrien Quatennens had just published a letter in which he notably admitted having slapped his wife, Jean-Luc Mélenchon first denounced in a tweet "police malice, media voyeurism, social networks ".
On the other hand, he praised the "dignity" and the "courage" of Adrien Quatennens, repeating to him his "confidence" and his "affection".
A few hours later, the former presidential candidate tried to correct the situation: “A slap is unacceptable in any case.

The controversy is launched and this Friday morning, Manuel Bompard puts a coin in the machine by minimizing the domestic violence suffered by the wife of Adrien Quatennens.
The councilor of Paris, Raphaëlle Rémy-Leleu, thus split a tweet calling on the deputy of Bouches-du-Rhône to be silent.
