Rosh Hashanah is the holiday that marks the beginning of the Jewish calendar.

As such, it falls on A and B in Tishri, the first two days of this calendar.

According to Jewish tradition, on Rosh Hashanah each person is judged according to what he did in the past year and it is even determined what his fate will be in the coming year.

Also, this is the day of God's reign over mankind.

Rosh Hashanah actually marks the creation of man at the end of the six days of creation that appear at the beginning of the Bible. The Queen of God and creation are indicated by blowing a shofar and reading verses from the Bible on Rosh Hashanah.

Among the mitzvahs of the holiday can be found the lighting of the candles, similar to Shabbat evening.

To the lighting of the candles is added the blessing "that we lived and lived and reached this time".

Also, it is customary to wish each other a "Happy New Year, write and sign" after the evening prayer on the first night of Rosh Hashanah.

Many Jewish families in Israel and around the world tend to hold family meals on Rosh Hashanah Eve, when after the consecration of that meal an apple is dipped in honey and a blessing is given, "Creator of the fruit of the tree. May you renew a good and sweet year upon us."

In addition, it is customary to eat a pomegranate (in order to multiply the rights as a pomegranate) and the head of a fish (let it be the head and not the tail).

The day after that meal, the prayers are continued, when at the end of the minachah prayer, the "tashlik" is performed, in which the clothes are shaken and the sins are thrown into a source of water.
