In a Russian television program, a military expert and a presenter affirm Russia's peaceful intentions - and threaten nuclear attacks.
Moscow – In front of thousands of viewers, Russian TV propagandist Olga Skabeeva and her interlocutor, military expert Igor Korotchenko, threatened the West with a nuclear strike.
According to a report by the US news portal Newsweek
, all the West fears is the possibility that Russia will use its "tactical nuclear weapons," Korotchenko said
.
Skabaeva, who hosts state-run news channel
Rossiya 1
, added that if Russia were backed into a corner, they could all be crushed.
According to Skabaeva, all those who wanted to destroy Russia would also be destroyed.
Moreover, Russia can only be destroyed by "a nuclear explosion," as
Newsweek
quotes the 37-year-old journalist who is loyal to the Kremlin as saying.
Ukraine war: military expert warns West against use of Russian nuclear weapons
Since the beginning of the war, the pro-Kremlin media have been promoting the narrative that the Russian attacks on Ukraine are purely a defense against the West and are designed to protect Ukrainian society from Nazis.
Because western Ukraine is supplying weapons for its defense, this claim has recently been repeated several times.
In a televised address on Wednesday (September 21), Russian ruler Vladimir Putin also threatened to use nuclear weapons if Ukraine continued to receive arms support.
Military expert Korotchenko called Putin's words "valuable," citing the West's "fear" of Russian nuclear weapons.
"The West needs to understand that when certain weapons exist, taboos and restrictions on their use can also be lifted under certain circumstances."

Threats on Russian TV: nuclear war seems "a done deal"
Skabaeva also emphasized Russia's alleged victim role when she asked in the conversation what "the goals of the collective West" are and what Russia should do to prevent a nuclear war - "if it is not yet decided".
Skabaeva also sees a clear position for peace in Putin's TV appearance this week: "Putin said it so succinctly and clearly.
We don't threaten, we don't want war.
We are the first to want to end the war." (ska)
