The chairman of the Palestinian Authority, Abu Mazen, is expected to give a speech today (Friday) afternoon at the UN General Assembly.
The Palestinians did refer to the surprising speech of the Prime Minister of Israel, Yair Lapid, and said that if Israel is interested in promoting the issue of two states for two peoples - it should act and not just talk, but it is not clear if Abu Mazen himself will in any way address the matter.
What is known is that he is expected to make harsh accusations against Israel.
Torch speech at the UN assembly
We will recall that last year he issued an ultimatum to Israel and warned that if it does not withdraw from the territories of Judea and Samaria, the Palestinian Authority will suspend recognition of it and the agreements signed with it.
During the last few days in New York, the chairman of the Palestinian Authority held a series of meetings with leaders and heads of state. He emphasized the importance of the two-state solution, but also accused Israel of being the one "working to thwart the establishment of the Palestinian state", and assigned it the responsibility for the security escalation.
Palestinians claim that Abu Mazen's speech "will be a historic stop towards thwarting and overthrowing the expansionist plans of the occupying state that denies our people just and legitimate national rights."
According to them, he will call to force Israel to engage in a peace process that will end the occupation.

There are those around Abu Mazen who are trying to push for a harsh speech against Israel in which he will announce the end of relations with Israel.
On the other hand, some believe that speech should be more operative.
On the other hand, there are Palestinians who believe that Lapid's decision to present the two-state vision may give hope after many years when the idea was absent from the agenda.
On the other hand, they said: "Who knows if Lapid will be elected in your elections, and even if he is elected, it does not necessarily mean that he will be able to advance the vision in case he has a right-wing coalition."
We will remind you that in recent days there have been violent protests in the Palestinian Authority, mainly in Nablus - following the arrest of Hamas members by the Palestinian security forces.
In the Palestinian security establishment, they rushed to convene all the factors to assess the situation in which they discussed ways to contain the events in order to prevent deterioration and civil war, and called for the unity of the ranks of the Palestinian public.
