A service counter for vegan products too?
This is now a reality in several Rewe stores.
Frankfurt - Vegan nutrition is a hot topic.
According to the Allensbach market and advertising medium analysis, the number of people in Germany who classify themselves as vegans was 1.58 million in 2022.
What's more, this number has recently been increasing from year to year.
Meanwhile, meat and cheese counters in supermarkets have so far been largely uninteresting for vegans.
But that could change now.
Because Rewe is currently testing a vegan service counter in selected stores.
This means that customers can get advice and buy exactly the quantity they need.

The topic is already being hotly debated on social media.
Many users are asking Rewe to have a corresponding counter in “their” local supermarket.
Specifically, for example in Frankfurt.
A report from
ruhr24.de
about the opening of a vegan service counter in Kaarst near Düsseldorf quickly made the rounds.
But: What is Rewe's position on the subject?
Will the vegan service counter also come to Hesse?

The answer is clear: it is already there.
On request, the company refers to the following Rewe stores in Hesse, which are testing the vegan service counter:
Offenbach (Hafenplatz 1-3)
Mühltal-Nieder-Ramstadt
Wiesbaden (Bahnhofsplatz 3)
Mainz (Am Kronberger Hof 1, Rheinallee 64)
Rewe Center Rodgau-Dudenhofen
Rewe Center Egelsbach
Kassel (Frankfurterstrasse 225)
Rewe Center Wetzlar.
According to Rewe, the test of the vegan counters has been officially running in around 60 stores across Germany since September 19.
The vegan selection in the service counters therefore includes plant-based alternative products for meat, sausage, cheese and fish.
On offer are, for example, vegan salami and vegan liver sausage, vegan grilled skewers and vegan steak, various mature cheese alternatives or vegan delicatessen salads.
The new offer is usually in the counter area of delicatessen or cheese in the Rewe stores.
Is Rewe bringing the vegan service counter to Frankfurt?
Will the vegan counter be rolled out in other Rewe stores in Hesse?
The only thing that seems certain is that by expanding the range in Hesse, too, the company should be able to fulfill a wish from many customers.

Frankfurt in particular - not yet included according to Rewe - could prove to be a worthwhile market: the city is considered a hotspot for vegan and vegetarian cuisine, at least in the gastro scene.
Frankfurt has 51.54 restaurants per 100,000 inhabitants that count in the category, according to a ranking by the travel portal Clubmed.
