A serious traffic accident occurred on the A3 motorway on Friday.

Two people died.

The freeway was completely closed.

Nuremberg – Two people died in a serious traffic accident on the A3 Autobahn on Friday afternoon.

A 55-year-old was already driving his truck towards Würzburg on the A3 at around 2:30 p.m.

However, between the Höchstadt ad Aisch – Nord and Schlüsselfeld junctions, the truck left the roadway for reasons that have not yet been clarified.

Serious accident on the A3: truck breaks through central barrier – two dead

As can be seen from the report by the Central Franconia police, the 55-year-old then broke through the central barrier of the construction site area with his vehicle and collided with another truck on the opposite lane, which was traveling in the direction of Nuremberg.

As a result of the accident, a VW that was also driving behind the truck in the direction of Würzburg also got into the oncoming lane and collided with the same truck.

The driver (58) and passenger (50) of the VW suffered fatal injuries from the force of the impact and died at the scene of the accident.

The two truck drivers were seriously injured and then flown to the hospital by two rescue helicopters.

A3 completely closed for hours - clean-up work will probably last into the night

Both lanes of the A3 had to be completely closed for the accident investigation and the clean-up work.

Traffic was diverted nationwide.

Some of the vehicles stuck in traffic at the scene of the accident could only be guided out after hours.

The clean-up work continued into the evening.

The police expect that these will drag on into the night.

Serious traffic accidents happen again and again on the A3.
