Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that threats from the European Union and the West will not prevent Russia from achieving all the goals of its military operation in Ukraine and the protection of the Donbass population.
"We would like to stress once again that any threats from the European Union or other Western countries will not affect our determination to implement all the objectives of our military operation in Ukraine and protect the Russians there," Zakharova was quoted as saying by TASS news agency today.
She noted that the referendums, which began on Friday in the republics of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson provinces, "are absolutely in line with international law and give the legitimate rights of the residents of these regions to self-determination and to preserve their traditions, culture and belief."
