The market messenger regularly informs the citizens unfiltered from the point of view of the community about what is happening in Murnau.

The current issue is amusing for some, and triggers criticism for others.

Because it contains 21 illustrations on 20 pages, on which Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP/Bürgerforum) can be seen.

Murnau

- Hans-Jürgen Steib is a good address in Murnau when it comes to humor.

After all, he gave the Faskasperl seven times at the Schäfflertanz.

In addition, he already pulled many contemporaries through the cocoa when he blew the politicians.

If you tell Steib about the market bot, he says: "That's good, yes." And immediately makes a note of it for the next politician's blunder, which should take place again in 2023 if the Corona circumstances allow it.

What amuses Steib is the fact that the current issue of Marktboten contains 21 illustrations on 20 pages showing Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP/Bürgerforum).

On page 5, the reader will find the head of the town hall eight times.

These are photos that were taken during donation handovers for the “Blue Land helps: Ukraine” campaign.

Utzschneider: "Pure propaganda"

CSU parliamentary group spokesman Rudolf Utzschneider finds the strong presence of the mayor in the Marktboten less amusing and more reprehensible.

“We see that as pure propaganda.

We hope this style will come to an end soon.

Otherwise we may have to experience what a Murnau citizen pointed out to me: 'Flags with the mayor's likeness will soon be hanging in front of the town hall'.

These flags will then probably be hoisted by Mr. Manlik.” Which of course means the parliamentary group spokesman for the ÖDP/citizens' forum, Michael Manlik.

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular GAP newsletter.

“Many in Murnau can remember only too well the very emotional attacks by the Manlik municipal council because of the market bot,” Utzschneider continues.

Manlik wanted to abolish the publication because he "saw it as a 'propaganda sheet'".

The CSU man thinks it is very impressive how adaptable people can be.

What does Beuting say about the allegation of propaganda?

The answer comes from city hall spokeswoman Annika Röttinger: "The allegation of propaganda lacks any comment".

Next question: In Beuting's view, are 21 mayor pictures on 20 pages appropriate in a municipal information sheet?

Röttinger: "The Murnauer Marktbote informs the citizens of Murnau about current topics from the town hall,

Murnau's municipal politics as well as dates and information from municipal institutions and local associations.” As a citizens' service, the publication, which has been around since 2008 and has a circulation of 7,500, also depicts the work of the municipal administration.

"Of course, this also includes reports that deal with the exercise of the mayor's office, such as honors, donations or openings.

Due to the generous willingness of the citizens to donate to the Ukraine aid 'The Blue Land Helps', more photos than usual found their way into the municipal newspaper in the last issue of the Murnau Marktboten.”

Manlik is surprised

Manlik denies that he wanted to abolish the market messenger.

That is not the case.

"It is surprising that Mr. Utzschneider sees the frequent photos of Mayor Beuting as propaganda.

When, a few years ago, during Mr Beuting's term of office, our parliamentary group applied for information from the parliamentary groups on current political issues to be placed in the market messenger, this was rejected by most of the parliamentary groups." The CSU with the argument that the market messenger was a market messenger by nature a mayor's paper.

“Other factions argued similarly,” says Manlik.

"The Marktbote, according to another councillor, is exclusively the platform for the mayor." For Manlik "the question arises

Well thought out or not: The politicians have gotten a through ball with Beuting's flood of images.
