The "Brit HaShalom" Synagogue in Nof HaGalil burned down on the night between Friday and Saturday and the place was badly damaged. There were no casualties.
The police officers of the northern district opened an investigation into the incident and a preliminary investigation indicates that it was arson on a criminal background.
"Heavy damage was caused to the place,"
Three fire crews from the Nof HaGalil station were called to the incident and took control of Hersh.
The commander of the force, Rabbi Roni Peretz, said that "Upon our arrival at the scene, we detected heavy and thick smoke coming out of the synagogue. The fire fighters broke down the doors and identified ignition points inside the prayer space. The crews performed quick extinguishing and ventilation operations. Much damage was caused to the synagogue and several prayer books were burned."
