The criticism, against the background of the violent suppression of the riots in the country • The report published by the human rights organization notes the death in custody of 22-year-old Mehsa (Zina) Amini, and the fatal shooting at demonstrators who rejoiced at her death • About Raisi's speech at the United Nations last week: "A reminder of the failure of the UN member states to deal with serious crimes committed in Iran"

The Amnesty organization, which often attacks and criticizes Israel, published a harsh report against the Iranian authorities and against the President of the Islamic Republic, Ibrahim Raisi, against the background of the violent suppression of the riots in the country. Raisi is even accused in the report of committing crimes against humanity.

"Urgent global action is needed due to the deadly repression of protests in Iran," reads the title of the message published by Amnesty.

"An independent international investigation mechanism must be established to handle the crisis, and the responsibility for it must be placed on those who are now receiving immunity."

The report states that "the urgent need for this type of action is particularly evident against the background of the death in custody of 22-year-old Mehsa (Zina) Amini, and the fatal shooting at protesters who were happy for her death, which left at least eight dead and hundreds wounded.

It also states that "Amini was violently arrested by the 'Morality Police' for disobeying the discriminatory laws that require women to wear a veil. Amnesty International gathered evidence of the Iranian forces' illegal use of various bullets, tear gas, water cannons and batons to disperse the protesters."

Diana Althaway, deputy director of the Middle East and North Africa region at Amnesty International, said that Iranian authorities routinely resort to methods of "torture, extrajudicial executions and other unlawful killings".

She also added that "the brutal repression of the Iranian authorities against the demonstrations is consistent with the speech of Iranian President Raisi at the United Nations, which received a world stage despite credible evidence of his involvement in crimes against humanity.

This is a reminder of the devastating, repeated failure of the UN member states in dealing with immunity and impunity for serious crimes committed in Iran."

The report adds and details concrete cases of indiscriminate shooting at protesters, which caused horrific injuries and death. "Amnesty International collected testimonies and evidence, as well as analyzed photos and videos of the demonstrations, which reveal a shocking pattern of Iranian forces illegally firing metal bullets, repeatedly , directly at the protesters," it says. Among other things, cases are described in which the shooting of protesters led to their complete or partial blindness, and cases of shooting boys under the age of 18.

The Amnesty International organization receives a lot of criticism in Israel due to the line it has adopted in recent years, which expresses support and identification with the BDS movement and even promotes an aggressive campaign seeking to define Israel as an apartheid state.

As published in Israel Hayom, this policy caused tensions between the Israeli branch of the organization and the global management in London.

This is because the activists in Israel believe that the focus should be solely on what is happening in the territories of Judea and Samaria, while Amnesty International seeks to define all of Israel, even within the 1948 borders, as an apartheid state.
