Lapid at the UN Assembly: "Two states for two peoples - the right thing for Israel" (Photo: Reuters)

This is not an opinion column of a political commentator.

Not pretending.

There is not a trace of orientation to convince a view or an attempt to influence a vote at the ballot box.

There is no trace of demagoguery here, but a point of view that comes from the heart, in the hope that it might cross audiences.

There will be no reference here to the vision of two states for two peoples that was returned to the global public agenda the other day, with the blessing of the head of the world's largest power (in my humble and humble opinion, there was no major innovation here, since it was already presented in the Bar Ilan speech, in the past. But as mentioned minor).

New Year's Eve, the terrible days and a time of personal and public soul-searching.

The latter is especially committed in light of the history of the destruction of the first and second houses due to gratuitous hatred of the people.

It is worth appreciating and respecting the other even if the opinions are divided and there are no agreements on "substantial" and "principled" issues.

I was a teenager and I was also old and I had the privilege of hosting in my home (under social circumstances) and I personally know very well the last Prime Ministers of Israel: Benjamin Netanyahu, Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid.

It's not for nothing that they reached the highest position and the most demanding job in the world.

Everyone deserves more.

Very impressive, opinionated, people of vision and action.

Running a marathon, not a sprint.

total

Hardworking with a head that works non-stop.

Success alone is survival, failure equals death.

Each one will live according to his faith and his way, all three of them are imbued with a strong desire to stand at the top of the pyramid, to lead, govern and make a mark.

All three of them could seemingly make their home financially more private, but really are unable to choose another way.

Very ideologically and functionally different, but in the personal narrative they have a lot in common.

Strong people with strong - endless drives and a huge libido, who will never require psychiatric or psychological treatment.

Even on the cliff of times, those who face objective family difficulties of bereavement and severe disability, will prove to be a solid rock and will be their own best caregivers,

A person's personality is a derivative of genes he inherited and the effects of early relationships with his environment in childhood, adolescence and adulthood.

Then the foundation is created that later solidifies and coalesces into the maturing personality.

It can undergo dramatic effects due to formative life events.

As a psychiatrist, I am interested in the narrative of a person's personality as much as his opinions and worldview.

To my friend, yesterday Prime Minister Yair Lapid gave the speech of his life, on the most respected stage in the world.

The most personal and revealing speech a leader can deliver.

A speech that ended a long journey from a gifted writer of the weekly column known in Israel, a best-selling author, one of the most successful television personalities in Israel's history, worthy of the throne of leadership.

In his words, which he made sure to write and formulate only by himself, he described the narrative of Israeliness in general and his ideology as Prime Minister of Israel in particular.

It was very, very important to him to reveal and mention the two people who shaped his world view more than anything else.

His father Tommy is a holocaust survivor and his daughter Yaeli is low functioning autistic.

In the introduction to the books "Psychiatrist on the Couch", Abba Yair, the golden boy of the Israeli media and the object of envy of many, explains: "We had the most terrible, most heartbreaking disaster. The kind of disaster about which there are no doubts, as soon as it happens you know that your life as you knew it is over. A disaster which is the realization of all your fears, a disaster that ends in one fell swoop everything you thought about yourself. everything you dreamed and planned, everything your life was supposed to be. Low-functioning autism is a precise and cold concept with nights of crying and madness behind it. Blue marks because the boy beat you, years Without sleep and a panic that doesn't leave you for a moment because in a moment something will happen."

"..All of us, members of the extended family of autism, had to choose between anger and bitterness and love and acceptance. Each of us was in the car when the rampage began. Each of us was ashamed and then ashamed to be ashamed."

Mr. Prime Minister, you have traveled an eternal path from the day you were ashamed until yesterday when all you could think of in your mind was to mention only your beloved daughter of your three children, on the world stage, to speak of her with adoring pride.

You will try to explain to the world public the Israeli reality of an adult woman, who does not speak a single word, when you are required to take her to a shelter at 03:00 in the morning due to an alarm, for fear of missiles.

You spoke, we listened and the tears flowed by themselves.

For a moment, we were very proud of our prime minister.

We felt that Israel had won.

For a few seconds, flashbacks passed through our minds in flashes of mirrors of our families' partnership on a long road, for half a jubilee years, a road that never ends.

We were there together from the first moment our children Yotam and Keren were diagnosed with Yaeli, of Lehya and yours.

We started the journey when they were already exceptional among exceptional, at the age of two.

Even then you discovered your leadership and controlled foresight.

Together we grieved bitterly and together we chose life, in constant struggle and action.

tirelessly

We do not allow ourselves to fall and face difficult challenges that no one who has not experienced will ever understand.

Together we drained swamps and paved dirt roads, established kindergartens and special classrooms for our disabled children, flew in therapists from all over the world, founded the ABA method (adapted behavioral therapy for autism) in Israel, took care of our children but also worked tirelessly for all children with special needs.

We made sure to create homes full of warmth, love, joy of life.

We worked hard on a relationship, while constantly worrying about a warm and most normative home for our healthy children.

In retrospect and looking back, you were my psychological therapist in a dark time, where the cobbler walks barefoot and the psychiatrist drowns the best of people's lives in his world.

We came from a similar family background and we were both siblings and knew even before the tragedy of our children, what difficulty is.

Together we chose life and discovered that we have more strength than we think.

Most of all, your Yaeli changed you.

She is the one who led you to abandon the meat pot of the journalist and the writer, a beloved consensus of meteoric success and move to the paths of the fickle and forced good politics.

Slowly, slowly you proved time and time again that you are the most worthy.

Slowly, slowly, it became clear that you were beckoning from the material of leaders, trailblazers and visionaries.

The buds were there all along and yesterday it was finally proven that you are ripe and worthy of the high office in the country.

We know Yaeli very well.

She knows how to speak well without words.

The most stubborn and opinionated, just like her father.

We are sure that yesterday she (and also grandfather Tommy, from above) watched her father with pride because she realized that it was very, very important for her to be remembered on the most respected stage in the world.

Yesterday the public was able to see what we knew and understood a long time ago, that you got there thanks to her, among other things.

So on behalf of Yotam and Keren who have difficulty speaking, we say all the best to Yaeli's father.

We don't have to vote for you to rate.

*Due and important disclosure: I never voted for "Yesh Atid" in the elections, nor for the party in the camp headed by Yair Lapid.

(Apparently you can take the guy out of the Yeshiva, but not the Yeshiva out of the guy, speaking of the influence of our childhood on shaping our personalities).
