Elected representatives from left or right, members of different religious communities, associations: more than 500 people took part in this event.

The list of names spans several printed pages.

Over 500 in total.

All responded to Abdelkader Achebouche's invitation to share the "couscous of living together" this Saturday noon in the great mosque of Argenteuil which he presides.

“During the first edition in 2011, there were around a hundred of us, maybe 140, he recalls.

It is gaining momentum over the years.

The host of the day is delighted to finally be able to repeat this event advocating sharing and meeting after two years of a pandemic.

"This question of living together is more important than ever in our society too marked by conflicts, intolerance and rejection of the other", considers this figure of interreligious dialogue.

In his speech, Abdelkader Achebouche invited "to create more crossroads of meetings so that each culture gets to know each other better in order to respect each other better".

This meal is intended as a symbolic example with, mixed around the tables, representatives of different religious communities, associations, faithful from various backgrounds and many local elected officials.

"A fine example of sharing", greets the prefect of Val-d'Oise

Among them, the mayor of Argenteuil Georges Mothron (LR) or that of Cergy Jean-Paul Jeandon (PS).

"It's a great initiative that is important to support, greet Te Sackda and Vi Souidaray, representatives of the Buddhist pagoda of Saint-Leu-la-Forêt.

In addition, it is for us the opportunity to visit the mosque which is very beautiful.

Dominik Salm and Roger Touati, respectively senior parish priest of Argenteuil and creator of the town's synagogue, are regulars there.

"We meet regularly," says the priest.

We organize all together the open doors of the places of worship of the commune.

“I come whenever I am invited, that is to say often, echoes the representative of the Jewish community.

We have very good relations with Muslims.

"It is a fine example of sharing which illustrates the principle of secularism in our country which does not say at all to ignore religions", underlines the prefect of Val-d'Oise, Philippe Court.

And to quote Aristide Briand on the 1905 law of separation of Church and State: “The law must protect the faith as long as the faith does not claim to say the law.
