After a boat accident off the Syrian coast, the death toll has continued to rise.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that more than 90 people were killed and dozens are still missing.

The Syrian state news agency Sana reported 89 fatalities.

The search for victims is still ongoing.

According to the Observatory, at least 160 people were on board, including Syrians, Lebanese and Palestinians.

At least 20 people survived the accident.

The boat with migrants of different nationalities originally left Lebanon on Tuesday, according to sources at the port of Tripoli in northern Lebanon.

It capsized off the island of Arwad near the port city of Tartus in Syrian waters.

Again and again, many people from the civil war country dare the dangerous journey across the Mediterranean.
