A survey of parents revealed that the need for childcare in Bad Kohlgrub for kindergartens and crèches will increase in the coming years

BY ANTONIA REINDL

Bad Kohlgrub - kindergarten place requirement survey - a long and cumbersome word, but it describes an important thing.

As part of a parent survey, the municipality of Bad Kohlgrub found out what the need for childcare in the town will be in the coming years, not only for kindergarten children, but also for children in crèches and elementary school.

The result was presented to the municipal council by Michael Ledig, representative of the Evangelical day-care center Bienenhaus in Murnau.

The conclusion in a nutshell: there is a certain need for action.

The response could certainly have been better.

Ledig said that 77 of the 208 questionnaires returned were filled out.

The community has made extensive efforts to draw attention to the survey.

Nevertheless, it was also possible to work with a good third of the return - parents with children up to twelve years of age were interviewed.

Among other things, “the family background” was determined in the questionnaires.

Among other things, the survey revealed a “relatively high level of mother employment” (80 percent), with part-time employment predominating (16.7 hours on average).

Paternal employment: 96 percent.

92 percent have a full-time week.

In addition, an average of two children live in a Kohlgruber household, most of which is traditional, i.e. made up of father, mother and child.

Only in three percent of the cases is one parent a single parent.

Nine percent live in a multi-generational household.

Parents want their children to have a lot of contacts among their peers - forest kindergartens are popular

Of course, requests for childcare were also asked about.

It turned out that 42 percent long for a place in a crèche.

Almost half ticked five care days.

On average, parents would be willing to pay 175 euros per month for it.

It was also determined what the mothers and fathers value most.

"The most important thing for the parents is that the children get contact with children," said Ledig.

Other not unimportant topics: education, language training, games and nature experiences.

In the kindergarten area, it can be seen that "the forest kindergarten has become a popular form of care".

"At least 26 percent" would like a place there, emphasized Ledig, who had summarized all the figures and diagrams in a presentation.

Around two-thirds also want five-day care – mostly from seven or eight o'clock.

In kindergarten, "contact with children plays an even greater role," remarked Ledig.

These would be rated even more important than pre-school education.

However, the parents could “check many things”.

98 percent hope for a kindergarten place for their offspring.

More places in the lunchtime care needed

The care of primary school children is also in demand, around every third household would like this, either in an after-school care center (14 percent), in an all-day school (30 percent) or in lunchtime care (22 percent).

In Bad Kohlgrub there are currently 62 places in the open all-day school, informed Ledig.

If one wanted to do justice to the wishes from the survey, one would need more places in lunchtime care and after-school care.

There are 75 places in the kindergarten, 25 in the forest kindergarten and 25 in the "fox group".

As a conclusion, Ledig said that there is a need for action or expansion in the care of crèches, kindergartens and schools.

He recommended a children's home model in which different age groups are cared for in one place.

Community manager Christian Hollrieder also recognized the need.

"The crèche isn't enough", you need at least one more group.

And the transition group in kindergarten must be preserved.

There are still places available in the open all-day school, said its director Mona Reindl (free voters).

But Ledig looked ahead and immediately emphasized that demand would increase.
