After four years, music lovers will have a date tomorrow with the Lebanese pianist Guy Manoukian, whose work was distinguished by a special musical character that influenced the Arab and international music scene during the past thirty years, on the opera stage at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts, sponsored by Syriatel and organized by Zuma.

In response to a question by SANA’s reporter at the press conference held today at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus about the role of theater in creating a state of effective communication between the artist and his audience to deliver his artistic message in light of the great spread of social media, Manoukian said, “I am the son of the theater. I am six years old and today I am 46 years old and I have not preferred any other means of appearing on stage.

Manoukian considered that theater is the artist's first and last examination, while social media constitute experiment stations through which he can appear in the way he wants, and his true image remains in the shadows, especially as the audience attaches most of its attention to the performance of the musician to know his behavior, movements and words.

Manoukian added, “It is not the first time that I cooperate with Syrian musicians. I love working with them and I am proud of their presence. Syrian and Lebanese musicians are close in terms of culture, thinking, and living musical memory, and they listen to the same music that accompanied them since their childhood.”

And he indicated that he will be accompanied in his concert by 16 musicians from Syria and 9 Lebanese musicians who accompanied him for 23 years in his concerts, in addition to a Syrian-Lebanese technical team.

Manoukian praised the efforts made by Syriatel and Zuma to reach a highly organized and attentive party, and promised a lot of beautiful music, joy and a special surprise to his Syrian fans.

Syriatel's sponsorship of Guy Manoukian's concert at the Damascus Opera comes as a continuation of its project to support arts and culture in Syria, where the supervisor of the department of sponsorship and events, Ahmed Shaheen, said that Syriatel is always keen to be proactive and supportive of all purposeful activities in our country, especially events that contribute to supporting arts and culture, adding International Maestro Guy Manoukian is a huge fan and has many fans.

It is noteworthy that in 2019 Manoukian performed a concert at the Opera Theater in Damascus.
