The price for a liter of Super at a free gas station in Gerolzhofen on Tuesday: 1.029 euros.

However, that was not entirely intentional.

Gerolzhofen –

Drivers in Franconia were amazed when they saw the price at a gas station in Gerolzhofen (Schweinfurt district) on Tuesday afternoon (September 20): 1.029 euros for a liter of Super Plus.

So a whole euro less than everywhere else. The low price of the free gas station apparently got around quickly, and a long line of cars formed.

This is reported by Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR).

Super for only 1 euro: gas station leaseholder explains how the faux pas came about

So many people came to fill up their cars cheaply that the petrol tank was completely empty in the evening.

Such a tank holds 3,000 liters.

The price reduction was not intentional.

A human input error was to blame, as gas station operator Alexander Dorst explained to BR24.

It turned out that by 4.42 p.m. the price of petrol for Super Plus had jumped to 1.029 euros.

At 9.41 p.m. the tank was empty.

Operator booked it as an "unwanted special sale"

The operator was not yet able to say exactly how many liters were sold for one euro.

He now records the matter as an “unwanted special sale”.

He also doesn't hold grudges against drivers who have filled their tanks cheaply.

On Wednesday morning, a liter of Super Plus petrol then cost 2.099 euros again.

Since the end of the tank discount, the prices for petrol and diesel have been increasing.

Drivers sometimes have to dig deep into their pockets, especially in Bavaria.
