Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani announced today that his country intends to take an appropriate response to the decision taken by Ukraine regarding diplomatic relations with Tehran, expressing regret in this regard.
"The recent decision announced by Kyiv regarding diplomatic relations with Tehran is based on unreliable reports and the atmosphere raised by foreign media," IRNA quoted Kanaani as saying today.
He referred to the clear and neutral policies pursued by Iran regarding the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, reiterating his country's position calling for a political solution to the conflict.
He referred to the successive meetings and contacts that took place in recent months between the Iranian Foreign Minister with his Ukrainian and Russian counterparts with the aim of supporting efforts aimed at settling the current crisis between the two countries.
