New York-Sana

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, affirmed that the Turkish regime's cessation of its hostilities against Syria, especially ending its occupation and support for terrorist groups, is a natural prelude to restoring Syrian-Turkish relations to the way they were.

Al-Miqdad said in an interview with Russia Today: “We are always ready to build good and normal relations with the Turkish people, but not at the expense of Syrian land or blood, not at the expense of cutting water from Syria or killing and bombing Syrians in the northern border areas. We are here not imposing conditions, but I say It is natural for these Turkish actions to stop to restore relations to the way they were.”

Al-Miqdad continued: "It is logical that any discussions be based on foundations, so how can I reach an understanding with an occupier of my land when he did not show any desire or importance to resolve this issue, and therefore these are not requirements, but rather normal things in political work."

Miqdad pointed out that the fate of Idlib Governorate is linked to the struggle of the Syrian people, who will not leave an atom of dust outside the control of the state, stressing that Turkey must immediately and completely withdraw from the region and stop its support for terrorist groups in it, indicating that no matter how long the Turkish occupation lasts, it will only meet the same fate as the American occupation of Iraq. and Afghanistan.

Al-Miqdad stressed that what the Turkish government is doing now in northern Syria is establishing settlements to replace the indigenous population, and this matter is not acceptable in the Bill of Human Rights and international law, but rather is a war crime punishable by law.

Al-Miqdad said: “We tried to establish good relations with Turkey, and between 2009 and 2010 the relations were excellent, and in order to strengthen them, we in Syria took measures sometimes that were not in line with our interests, but we sacrificed in order to strengthen relations with our neighbors and build relations based on good neighborliness as stipulated in the Charter the United Nations and as this relationship should be.”

Al-Miqdad added: “The problems started when the Turkish regime intervened in Syria’s affairs and supported the terrorists who flocked to it from all over the world through Turkish lands and killed its people and destroyed its infrastructure.

Miqdad renewed the call for the displaced Syrians to return to their country, and this is their right, and the Syrian state will provide all requirements for this in cooperation with those who wish from friends, brothers and international organizations.

Al-Miqdad explained that the United States of America continues to steal oil, gas, wheat, cotton and all capabilities in northeastern Syria. Who should not support an abusive government against the people of another country.

Miqdad expressed his confidence that the American occupation forces will withdraw sooner or later and will not remain in Syria, but they can withdraw without major losses, indicating that the one who fought terrorism in Syria is the Syrian army and its allies only, not the American occupation forces.

Regarding Syria's non-participation in the upcoming Arab summit in Algeria, Miqdad said: The reasons are clear, so Syria cannot accept being part of the fragmentation, or being a knot in bringing the Arabs together, or an obstacle used by some to prevent the convening of Arab demands, even within the framework of the Arab League, which we know the role that it played. It is against Syria, Libya and other Arab countries.

Al-Miqdad pointed out that the way in which the West dealt with the Russian media completely contradicts the international norms under which it claimed to have been operating for decades.

Al-Miqdad pointed out that the Western method in the media's dealings with Russia was not surprising, but rather it was expected with the Russian Federation starting a special operation to correct the situation in Donbass and to remove the threat of NATO and Western countries from Russian lands.

Miqdad mentioned Syria's position since the first day of the Russian operation, which is that it is a correction of history and comes in the context of Russia's right to defend itself and its interests under the Charter of the United Nations and international law.

Miqdad indicated that the United Nations has become like an institution for these Western countries, as there are 193 member states, the absolute majority of which is ignored in favor of about 29 countries in the European Union, the United States and some of its tools and agents in this or that region.

Al-Miqdad said: "The West is repeating a broken record. In fact, it tried to use it against Russia and China, and I, in many meetings in which I participated during these days, said that there is no ally for the developing countries left except Russia and China, and that the goal that the West seeks by focusing on Ukraine It is to isolate or end the role that Russia and China are trying to play in protecting what remains of a democratic legacy in international relations, defending human beings in developing countries, and accomplishing the task of domination and control over all countries of the world. I see that the train has gone towards ending the unipolar period.” .

Al-Miqdad added: "You know how things were going in the UN Security Council and in international organizations, whether in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons or in the Human Rights Council and others, where they were attacking Russia and Syria, imposing opinions and making decisions... In fact, they were funny decisions within the framework of Western focus on False, formal and false issues in international relations, but multipolarity has begun to emerge through the decisive role played by President Vladimir Putin and President Xi Jinping in changing this image that controls the world for the interests of narrow Western countries.
