Opinion An opportunity that will not return: precisely now the West should support the protest in Iran as a moral and political act Israel today

2022-09-24T20:40:03.309Z

Historical experience shows that dictatorial regimes are much more fragile than it appears from the outside - as soon as one stone moves in the Iranian wall, it will collapse.

Every year on the days of the UN Assembly, exiled Iranians demonstrate in New York against the Ayatollah regime. This year, as I saw it, the demonstrations were more numerous and seemed to be more organized. Yellow vests, stuffed dolls, stationary signs and moving on top of trucks around Manhattan against the regime.

The placement of the mass murderer, Ibrahim Raisi, in the role of the Iranian president, in an even less democratic way than in the past, stirs up the spirits among Iranians inside and outside the country.

By the way, at least in New York they still didn't have Massa Amini's photos, which means the protest was prepared in advance.

The young woman's death is the spark that ignited the fuel vapors that were already in the air.

At this critical moment in history, it is incumbent on every democracy seeker in the world, on everyone who is in favor of human rights, on everyone who advocates for freedom and on everyone who believes in peace, to give strong, unequivocal and decisive support to the Iranian uprising.

And not only moral support, but also practical.

If the authorities shut down the internet, the US, Israel and the other democracies should quickly and in every possible way smuggle other means of communication to the protestors. Budgets and any other element that can help should also be transferred. , because just as the Ukrainians rightly rejected the Russian occupation, so the struggle of the Iranian people against the oppressive regime they are under is the order of the hour.

Supporting the protest is not only the moral act but also the correct political move.

Precisely at this time, when it is clear to the whole world that there is no nuclear agreement on the horizon, overthrowing the regime through popular resistance is the least dangerous route to curbing Iranian aggression, both regarding the export of terrorism, and regarding the nuclear program.

Although many Iranians will pay with their lives along the way, historical experience shows that dictatorial regimes are much more fragile than it appears from the outside.

As soon as you move one stone in the wall, it will collapse.

In any case, it is better to dismantle the regime now, before it gets worse, than later when the balance of horror will be tens of thousands.

The current riots in Iran are reminiscent of the protest wave that broke out in 2009, which Obama's USA chose to look at from the sidelines. It was a grave mistake. Now, in the coming days, a window of opportunity will open up to Obama's former vice president, Joe Biden Historical. With a relatively small effort, and without the use of force, Biden and the West can remove a threat to world peace, and free an important nation from the grip of a predatory regime.

With a pinch of courage and effort, next Rosh Hashana the Ayatollah regime will already be in the dustbin of history.
