- How does this new adventure look for you?

Philippe CAVERIVIÈRE.

-

In “We are live”, I was doing a seven-minute chronicle.

This time I was asked to come a second time.

My intervention in "What an era!"

will therefore be in two parts: one will be political and the other more "catch-all" with social issues, the international, sport, people... I will also perhaps bounce back on the comments political guest as I sometimes do at RTL.

What does it mean to you to be more popular?

There are plenty of people I admired on Saturday evening like Florence Foresti, Jonathan Lambert, Nicolas Bedos or Laurent Baffie.

I liked this box, I was happy to have an appointment with the girl or the guy who was talking bullshit so I tell myself that it's cool to have this role today.

I have a date set up and maybe there are people who like it... I've had some nice feedback even if, on social networks, I'm still navigating between very diverse reactions from people.

It ranges from “

You are the new Desproges

” to “

You are a piece of shit, please stop everything!

»...

What do you like in the television exercise compared to that on the radio?

I love the flexibility, immediacy and imagination of radio.

Television breaks the imagination a little so I find that the exercise is more difficult but I like the challenge!

I say to myself: “

You were bad the first year, average the second, you may be average plus the third

”.

At first, it's horrible, we're bad, we get locked up.

I had Jeanne Cherhal who fell asleep during my column saying just before “

it's shit

”.

We say to ourselves “

What the hell am I doing here?

".

I've thought it plenty of times.

Now - and I feel it on RTL - even when the guest isn't laughing, I have a little relationship with the listener that makes him laugh about it.

I feel anxiety and stress before my columns but even more on television.

There's always a little thrill...

How did you come to the small screen?

Laurent Ruquier called me after hearing me on RTL with Philippe Geluck.

I had arrived on the station by Thomas Sotto.

At first, I had absolutely no desire to do radio.

I did a show in Saint-Raphaël for the Léo Association, of which I am the sponsor, and Thomas came to co-present the evening.

Coming out, he said to me, "

You're not bad at the microphone, come with me

".

I said to myself that they were going to fire me after three reviews but, as Thomas had done me a favor by coming to the show, I couldn't say no to him.

However, I was not attracted by that, I was well behind.

And then afterwards, when you have the laughs live and people tell you that they like it and that it's a date for them, it's fun.

I try to be between humor and tenderness but above all sincere.

“I believe that Léa Salamé knows me a little and that she knows that I am more complex than the big redneck who sometimes says horrors”.

Philippe Caveriviere

In “What time!”, you find Léa Salamé, what connection do you two have?

I love female laughs because they are more sonorous, sunny and generous.

And she has that!

She takes things with kindness.

I think she knows me a little and she knows that I'm more complex than the big redneck who sometimes talks horrible things.

And, when I arrive on set, there's this thing - which I also saw on the radio - of "

hey, here's the other idiot

but which is a compliment and means that, for five minutes, we will put the brain aside and mess around on a difficult topic.

I therefore feel welcome and I am happy to continue this adventure together even if it was Laurent Ruquier who opened the doors of television to me.

Usually, we launch a youngster.

He chose to launch an old one which was quite original (laughs).

Did you understand his choice to leave the show?

No because it was going well.

There was never any tension.

After fifteen years of weekends, it's hard to put an end to it.

But he has so many plans… Maybe he wanted to break a routine?

I thought it was going wonderfully well and that there was a synergy of co-presentation and rhythm between Léa and him.

It's going to be a new era with Christophe Dechavanne, did you know him?

Not at all, but I've always been a fan of Christophe Dechavanne.

When he appeared on TV, we wondered “

who is this crazy guy?

".

He did anything and had a little Pierre Richard, Louis de Funès or Jimmy Fallon side.

He broke the codes of television by fooling around.

I also like the fact that he has always been involved in battles: against AIDS, against racism... We feel a big heart.

The other day, while filming the pilot, I said to myself “

you're next to Christophe Dechavanne…

”.

I remain a very spectator at heart.

What can it bring?

On the pilot, he had worked a lot on his subjects and was extremely invested while making big jokes.

That's what I liked about him and that's what I found.

The show is a challenge for Léa Salamé, what are her qualities to host this program?

He is someone who likes challenges.

There's a freshness to her, she doesn't have the right-thinking, lesson-giving side.

She knows how to mess around.

She is also intelligent and sensitive.

When I told her about my association, she had tears in her eyes, I saw her sincerity.

She is a woman of character who has authority, weight in her questions and legitimacy.

She wrote the book

Women Powerful

(Ed. Les Arènes) but she is one of them.

During the pilot, she was a perfect starship captain.

A word about the "Léo" association which works to fight against pediatric cancers and of which you are the sponsor...

Léo is the first name of a teenager from Saint-Raphaël who left in 2017. During his illness, I tried to get his file to Paris.

He also wanted to talk to Mike Horn and I went out of my way to get him to do that.

I asked Michaël Youn – who told me he was the least reachable guy on earth – and he was finally able to talk to him on the phone.

After he left, his mother asked me to be the godfather of his association.

I accepted while telling him that no one knew me.

The craziest thing is that the show I organized for the association then brought me to RTL and then to France 2. So without the association, I wouldn't be here at all!

Now that I am more exposed, there are people at the events, it takes on another dimension and it
