The Rummelsberger Diakonie is planning major renovations at the Starnberg and Söcking locations.

In Söcking, an additional 80 to 120 apartments with outpatient care are to be built, in Starnberg special offers for dementia diseases and numerous new employee apartments are planned.

Starnberg/Söcking – In the building committee of the Starnberg city council, a strong concept was heard on Thursday evening: CSU city councilor Ludwig Jägerhuber spoke of a “historic opportunity for Starnberg” in view of the project that the Rummelsberger Diakonie is planning at its locations in Starnberg and especially in Söcking.

There was talk of new care places, more staff apartments, and the demolition of a large part of the building on Riedeselstraße.

Instead of the currently existing one to three storey houses with partly sloping and partly flat roofs, buildings with up to four storeys and exclusively flat roofs are to be built.

The three houses approved in 2014 in the north of the area with a total of 75 senior-friendly apartments are expressly excluded from this and will be retained.

What is the current status

How many places do the two buildings on Waldschmidtstrasse and Riedeselstrasse currently have?

The Rummelsberger Diakonie offers 109 inpatient places in Starnberg and 80 inpatient places in Söcking.

The Diakonie also takes care of the housekeeping of the residential complex in Söcking.

There are also 24 places in day care in Starnberg.

What exactly is planned?

"Our future concept includes an innovative further development of the offers in Starnberg and Söcking," says the Diakonie.

"In harmony with the environment and surroundings, we want to offer nursing care for every life situation for the citizens with future-proof forms of care and supply." Starnberg Abbey should "specialize in an innovative offer for dementia diseases and inpatient living".

The Söcking Abbey is to provide a comprehensive range of services in one house in order to be able to offer the appropriate care service for every life situation.

The bottom line is that 200 childcare places are planned, eleven more than before - 120 in Starnberg and 80 in Söcking.

The 24 day care places will remain.

What else should change?

There are plans to increase the number of employee apartments on Waldschmidtstrasse to between 50 and 60.

Rummelsberger currently has 35 employee apartments - "roughly equal parts in both facilities".

How many people are currently employed in Söcking and Starnberg?

And how high is the further demand?

"In total, we employ around 150 people at both locations," writes the press office.

“How high the further demand will be depends on the concrete plans.

We can assume that around 30 to 40 more specialists and assistants will be needed.”

What is the schedule for the realization of the project?

The timetable depends very much on the respective approval steps and procedures.

"As Rummelsberger Diakonie, we are interested in a quick implementation," it says.

The project is of great importance for the Rummelsberger Diakonie and also has the corresponding priority.

"The two locations are an important part of our strategic orientation."

What is the planned investment amount?

According to initial estimates, the total investment sum is in the mid-eight-digit range.

The city administration and building committee can very well imagine the planned conversion in Söcking, which was discussed for the first time on Thursday.

"We are open to the project," said Mayor Patrick Janik.

The need cannot be denied.

The administration considers denser development on the extensive site on Riedeselstraße, including isolated higher buildings, to be “relatively acceptable”.

In the following discussion, Josef Pfister (BMS) was the only city councilor who expressed concerns about the four-storey building.

In general, it was too much for him, he said.

"If there are individual points, it depends on how they are designed."

The baker's bitter bill

The city councilors are now relying on an architectural competition that the Rummelsberger Diakonie wants to start.

He expects good suggestions, said Marc Fiedler (FDP).

In addition, the committee unanimously encouraged the Diakonie to submit an application to change the valid development plan.
