Shlomi Meir Ghibli, 45 years old from Kiryat Ata, is the man who was murdered last night (Friday) in his hometown.
The suspect in the murder, a young man about 24 years old from the village of Kabol in the Western Galilee, had a personal acquaintance with the victim.
He will be brought at the end of Shabbat for a hearing on the extension of detention at the Haifa Magistrate's Court.
According to the suspicion, the two drank together to a drunkenness and later an argument developed between them.
After they went outside the apartment to the stairwell, the suspect fatally stabbed the victim.
Ghibli's death was determined in the field by the medical teams.
The suspect was caught and arrested near the scene of the incident, on the city's Industrial Street, while intoxicated.

The commander of the Asher area, Shaul Tzemach, visited the scene in Kiryat Ata and decided to assign the investigation to the crime fighting unit of the Asher area.
An MDA paramedic, who arrived at the scene of the incident, said: "The injured man was lying in the stairwell unconscious with a penetrating injury to his body.
We gave him medical treatment and performed CPR, but his injury was fatal and we had to pronounce him dead."
