Damascus, SANA- The Ministry of Culture, the Syndicate of Artists, and the Syrian cultural community mourned the able artist, Diab Mashhour, on the death of Omar Yin

The Ministry of Culture, the Artists Syndicate, and the Syrian cultural community mourned the able artist, Diab Mashhour, at the age of 76.

The late artist was born in Deir ez-Zor in 1946. He began his artistic career in 1958. He had a distinguished and special line in Euphrates singing, so he was known as the Furati singer.

He was educated by the musician Youssef Jassem and participated in many social and official parties since 1969 and was classified as a singer on Radio Damascus, according to the decision of a committee composed of a group of great artists, including Nadim Darwish, Aziz Ghannam and Omar Al-Naqshbandi.

He presented many songs that became famous in the Arab world since the sixties of the last century and participated in a number of Syrian television works, such as Sah Al-Nom, Salt and Sugar, including with Duraid Lahham (Ghawar) and Naji Jabr (Abu Antar) in ancient Syrian folkloric works.

He dealt with the great Syrian composers such as Zaki Muhammad, Suhail Arafa, Abdel Fattah Sukkar and Amin Al-Khayat, composed and wrote some of his songs and developed some of them on the heritage of Deir ez-Zor.

Mashhour left many beautiful songs that became famous in Syria and the Arab world in the seventies and eighties, including the song (Ya Bu Redin Ya Bu Radana) composed by Abdel Fattah Sukkar, (Alamia Alamiya) and (Namnam Khanum) and others. He gave concerts in many countries such as America, Greece, Spain, Britain, the Philippines, Thailand and many Arab countries.

The songs of Ibn al-Furat have remained to this day, echoed by generations and present in the minds with his distinguished voice, which made a special imprint for Syrian singing, and the Ministry of Culture honored him in 2019 as part of the celebration of Culture Day.
