This evening, the activities of the Suwayda Theater Festival, in its sixth session, kicked off on the stage of the Palace of Culture, with the play “Wasifna” directed by Firas Hatem.
The festival, which is organized by the Directorate of Theaters and Music, the National Theater Department in Sweida, and the Directorate of Culture in the governorate, lasts seven days, with a daily theatrical performance, followed by a critical dialogue session about it, with the implementation of a workshop in preparing the actor throughout the days of the festival.
Two intellectual seminars will be held next Monday and Wednesday on the art of writing theatrical text and the manifestations of contemporary Syrian theater, with the participation of a number of writers and directors.
In a speech, Director of Suwayda Culture, Laila Abu Fakhr, stressed the importance of theater, based on its magic that is able to influence human nature, achieve intellectual and aesthetic pleasure, meet human mental and creative needs, and raise meaningful issues related to community issues and its ability to be a living, renewable building material.
And the theatrical performance “Wasifna” came silent with the employment of five songs, a thousand and a melody, each of which was directed by the director, to simulate the work for about an hour, the idea of travel and the human, emotional and social needs of love, connection, respect and appreciation, and it raises many questions about it.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Hatem pointed out that the work is the product of a theatrical training workshop produced by three separate teams that embodied real sensory situations for the participants that reflect their thoughts, pain and hopes in reality, as they were crystallized in theatrical scenes, leading to an integrated work using artistic tools that simulate the emotional and emotional level of these cases.
During a critical dialogue session about the show, a number of the participants saw that the work carried something new on the visual level and the performance of the actors and the scenographer, to get out of the traditional theater and into this type of theatrical art.
Also participating in the festival are the theatrical works “The Window” directed by Hani Al-Atrash, “Licillot in May” directed by Graz Abu Saad, “Closed Windows” directed by Thaer Hudifa, “Made in Hell No. 2” directed by Omar Abu Saad, and “The Disgruntled Femininity Taa” directed by Walid. The wise, to conclude the performances next Friday with the play “Antar and Abla,” directed by Hanin Al-Baini, followed by the announcement of the results of the festival’s competition for the best show, directing, actor, actress, lighting, decor, music, and a special jury award.
