Halblech - Fatal end of a bike ride: A cyclist discovered a lifeless man on a forest path on Thursday.
Despite all efforts, the 83-year-old died.
According to initial findings, the 83-year-old e-bike rider died of a heart attack in the Kenzen area, the police said on Saturday.
Another cyclist discovered the lifeless person lying on the ground on a forest path around noon.
Since there is no network coverage in the area, the first aider had to take the first resuscitation measures on site alone because he could not make an emergency call.
Only when another hiker passed by was the man able to ride his bike to the nearest rescue point and dial the emergency number.
Due to the difficult terrain, the emergency doctor and paramedic had to be roped down from a rescue helicopter.
All efforts on the part of the mountain rescue service, first aiders, the police and the emergency doctor were unsuccessful.
According to the police and medical expertise, the 83-year-old tourist died of a heart attack.
