More than two thousand people have been arrested in demonstrations in Russia against President Vladimir Putin's conscription order, according to reports by the independent organization OVD-Info, some of them children.

Frustration over the partial recruitment of 300,000 reservists aged 18-65, which Putin announced last week, has spread even to the pro-government media.

An editor at the state channel RT complained that conscription orders are being sent to the wrong people, which causes "great anger" among the people.

On Saturday, police swarmed cities where anti-draft protests erupted, including by the opposition group Vesna and supporters of anti-Putin Alexei Navalny.

Many protesters were arrested, most of them young.

Videos from local Russian media channels such as SakhaDay showed protesters being arrested in Eastern Siberia.

Before that, the demonstrators danced a traditional dance as a sign of protest.

Hundreds of protesters also gathered in the main square in Kutsk.

They held a traditional circle called osuokhai and shouted "No to genocide".

In addition, there are simply reports that the draft order was sent to people without military experience, contrary to the words of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu who promised that only those with military experience would be sent to the war in Ukraine.

As a result, two senior legislators in the country who are close to Putin addressed the complaints about the recruitment campaign and ordered the regional governors to take control of the situation and quickly resolve the "problem" that upsets the public.

Valentina Matbayenko, the speaker of the upper house of parliament, the Federation Council, said she was aware of these reports. "This is unacceptable, and I think the public's strong reaction is right," she wrote on Telegram.

Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of the house The underling, the Duma, expressed a similar concern.

"If mistakes happen, it is necessary to standardize. The authorities at every level need to understand their responsibilities."

The RT editor, a supporter of the Kremlin, expressed outrage that the draft orders were being sent to the wrong people.

"It was announced that privates up to the age of 35 can enlist, why are orders sent to 40-year-olds?"

Margarita Simoyan wrote in Telegram.
