Admission stop in the Schaftlacher kindergarten: There are no qualified staff available.

The contracts for ten crèche children were terminated.

Waakirchen - "It hurts us," said Mayor Norbert Kerkel.

In the municipal council, he made known what the head of the kindergarten, Magdalena Köstler, had already told the parents in a letter.

The vacant teacher position could not be filled.

Köstler had already made clear what that means in August in a fire letter to the municipal council.

As reported, Köstler announced at the time that a group would have to close if no new specialist could be recruited.

This “worst case”, as Kerkel explained, has now occurred.

And that despite the fact that after the report in our newspaper about the fire letter, there was even a spontaneous offer of housing for a kindergarten teacher.

"Unfortunately, that didn't help either," Kerkel regretted.

The applicant, who had previously expressed an interest if she could find an apartment, then said yes somewhere else.

Even a temp agency couldn't help.

"We really tried everything," assures Kerkel.

The job advertisement is still running.

Bitter decision: Terminated ten crèche contracts

Currently, however, the kindergarten management and community had to make a bitter decision: the three crèche groups have to be downsized.

All children who should be added after October 1st will not be admitted.

The community is aware of what this means for the parents of the ten crèche children affected, explained Kerkel.

"Work contracts were signed, some of the families will need the money urgently." The municipality is currently trying everything possible to save the situation.

"Unfortunately, we're being forced into a pretty tight corset," said the mayor.

So it is not possible to use parents as temporary workers.

For a play group that offers more than ten hours of care a week, trained specialist staff is mandatory.

Shortage of staff in the day care center: Workaround fails due to specifications from above

The parents are currently trying to organize themselves, Kerkel reported.

The community is also willing to make a room available.

The insurance issue is problematic, as Managing Director Markus Liebl explained.

If municipal liability insurance or accident insurance is to apply, the group must be officially approved by the youth welfare office.

However, this approval is only granted if the care is provided by specialist staff.

"We can have endless creative thoughts, but we are currently blocked by regulations that come from the ministry," said Liebl.

He announced that the municipality would negotiate with the youth welfare office about a provisional solution.

"But we get a beating from above between d'Fiass."

Risky private group – and “the next construction site”

But a private group of parents could support the community with an offer of space, said councilor Marquardt (We).

Kerkel nodded: "It's like inviting ten children to their birthday party.

So I take the risk.” Unfortunately, one cannot rule out that something serious might happen: “And then it will be difficult.” According to Kerkel, the community would be willing to do anything possible to help the parents.

With regard to the legal entitlement to a childcare place, Kerkel said: "It just doesn't work." And now the all-day school should also come: "The next construction site."

The staff in the Schaftlach kindergarten is still scarce despite the group closure.

In the letter to parents, Köstler writes about her concerns when the usual illnesses come with autumn and winter.

If more employees are absent as a result, she announces, children will have to be sent home earlier.
