The rebellious deputy from Bouches-du-Rhône has indeed been criticized since Friday for his speech on CNews: "
a slap is never acceptable, but it is not equal to a man who beats his wife every day
" .
According to him, the fact that Adrien Quatennens admitted to having slapped his wife during an argument does not mean that he should resign from his mandate as a deputy.
But Manuel Bompard's words caused controversy, including within his camp, some accusing him of minimizing the gesture of his colleague: "

Manuel Bompard then admitted that his sentence could nevertheless imply that he did not take into account the idea, defended by activists of his current, of a "
continuum in terms of domestic violence

Manuel Bompard also demanded again, like Jean-Luc Mélenchon on France 2 on Saturday evening, that the State pay one billion euros in subsidies to associations which fight against violence against women.
A measure already proposed by the deputies of rebellious France: “
