The American Richard Glossip has been on death row for 24 years: the testimony of the real killer could change everything.
Oklahoma City (USA) - Sentenced to death in 1998 for the murder of his boss, Richard Glossip has been awaiting his death penalty in the United States for 24 years.
However, an execution dated September this year has been stayed, as reported by
CNN
.
And it's not the first time Glossip has escaped the death penalty.
The man escaped his sentence for the fourth time, his lawyers told
CNN
.
Glossip has already had the so-called hangman's meal three times in his life.
And once, in 2015, he was only minutes away from his death.
Then-Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin averted the death penalty at the last minute after suspicions arose that an unapproved drug was being used in the injection.
Doubts about Glossip's guilt - new execution scheduled for December
The stay is now for six weeks - two weeks later, on December 8, the man's execution is scheduled again.
"This gives us ample time to present new evidence in a due process of law," Glossip's attorneys said.
In the United States, the case is actually considered controversial, among other things, there are doubts about the investigative work.
This was confirmed by an independent law firm in June 2022.
And Gossip himself has maintained his innocence for years.
Killer Justin Sneed testified against Glossip
The now 59-year-old was sentenced to death because he ordered the murder of his boss.
Glossip's former colleague, Justin Sneed, has already been convicted of actually carrying out the murder.
He was proven to have killed the two's common boss with a baseball bat.
In his court proceedings, however, he had always indicated that he had acted on Glossip's instructions.
