“Better together than against each other”: The new president of the Dorfen carnival party is trying to get closer to the carnival society.

Dorfen

– The fools are loose.

Although the fifth season does not officially start until November 11th, the Dorfen carnival festival is already rehearsing.

Under new management: After twelve years as President, Walter Steinweber has passed the baton on to Sebastian Beutling.

Wherever Jeck and Hemadlenz play together, all hell breaks loose.

"The best of both worlds," says Beutling, who was born in the Rhineland and moved to Dorfen with his family just three years ago.

Last year, the carnivalist ran with the Hemadlenzen for the first time and was fascinated.

"In Cologne, too, the street parade in the individual districts is the highlight." There, the Nubbel, a life-size straw doll, is burned before the farewell.

"Perhaps there is even a connection to Hemadlenz in the Rhineland," speculates the new Oberdeife.

It was the music that drew Beutling to the Dorfener Fachingsdeife: "As a saxophonist, I've been with the Guggenmusik for a long time." The 42-year-old technician at Bayerischer Rundfunk was welcomed into the club with wide open arms: "Everyone is actually welcome here." Beutling didn't do much for the career leap to Oberdeife, he says: "The Elferrat approached me, I wanted to take over the presidency."

Of course, the newcomer among the Dorfen fools lacks a certain amount of previous training, but ex-President Steinweber promised to take him by the hand in the first year.

"The club structures are very well built, only in the social media there is still room for improvement." Because the carnival deifs are not yet present on Facebook or Instagram: "People want to be picked up online today." After all, the club is not only looking for musicians , but also dancers for the Guard.

Unlike in previous years, the fools cannot start at the Wesner Tor on November 11th, 2022, but have to switch to the Altöttinger Tor.

And Beutling has another change in his sights: a rapprochement between the carnival society and the carnival crowd.

“The spin-off around 20 years ago was long before my time.

A difficult story, was also reported.” Perhaps old rifts can now be closed: “Better together than against each other,” says the new president, who is aware that he needs a lot of tact for this mission.
