For the fourth time, Kreuth's mayor Josef Bierschneider has been re-elected unopposed.
A comment from editor Christina Jachert-Maier.
For Josef Bierschneider, it is not a long way from Bavaria's youngest mayor to the longest-serving mayor.
He is constant without being self-important, he has an open ear for all citizens and he is very hardworking.
So he deserved that for the fourth time in a row nobody wanted to challenge him for the post.
This is how you can see it.
But: Democracy is actually a fine thing.
A real choice means panel discussions and flyers, information evenings and the fixing of points of view.
That brings fresh ideas and new impetus, even if the incumbent ultimately stays in office.
In Kreuth, such a discourse is apparently seen as a waste of money and time.
The vast majority also saw no reason to go to an election that wasn't one.
Too bad.
A little discussion and new impetus would have done the place good.
