Epidemic ｜ 3897 confirmed cases and 10 more deaths

The Centre for Health Protection will suspend the daily press conference on the epidemic from today (25th), and only use a press release to explain the latest situation.

There were 3,897 new confirmed cases in Hong Kong today, a decrease of more than 1,000 from yesterday (24th). Among them, there were 3,780 local cases and 117 imported cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,745,500. The number of deaths increased by 10, bringing the total number of deaths to 10,116.

In the past press conferences on the epidemic, the HA would take the initiative to announce the details of the death cases, and the CHP would explain the school cases and class suspension lists.

The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health canceled the press conference on the epidemic, commonly known as "430", and announced it as a press release. However, it was not distributed at 4:30 pm. The Hospital Authority then published a report on the number of newly hospitalized patients.

Combining the two press releases, there were 3,780 new local cases today, including 1,084 positive nucleic acid test cases, 2,696 rapid test positive cases, and 117 imported cases, representing a total of 3,897 new cases.

There were 10 new deaths, including 6 males and 4 females, aged between 61 and 92.

Two new positive cases were reported in residential care homes for the elderly today, involving two residents, and six residents were listed as close contacts.

However, it did not take the initiative to list the institutions involved in the press conference.

In addition, no information on cases reported by schools has been released.

The average immediate effective reproduction rate of local cases dropped to 0.866 on September 23, and the number of infected people showed a decreasing trend.

BA.4/BA.5 ratio accounted for 85.5%

Among the samples received by the Public Health Laboratory Service of the Department of Health for verification testing for local cases from September 16 to 22, the samples related to the Omicron variant virus strain BA.2.12.1 and BA.4/BA.5 sublineages were respectively accounted for approximately 3.2% and 85.5%.

A total of 9,903 deaths were recorded in the fifth wave of the epidemic, of which 9,819 and 81 were reported by the HA and 81 public mortuaries respectively, and three were reported by the Chinese University of Hong Kong Hospital. 10,116 cases.

The press release did not take the initiative to explain the details of the death case

According to the Hospital Authority, as of 0:00 am today, a total of 2,066 confirmed cases have been hospitalized, of which 214 were newly confirmed cases.

In addition, 7 critically ill patients and 5 critically ill patients were newly reported. There are now a total of 39 critically ill patients and 40 critically ill patients. Among them, 13 critically ill patients are receiving intensive treatment. In the past day, 10 new confirmed patients have died in public hospitals. .

In addition, it was announced that there were clusters of infections at Castle Peak Hospital, and one staff member tested positive.

5 of the 10 dead received all three injections

The HA verbally replied to the enquiry of "Hong Kong 01" that the 10 deaths were 6 males and 4 females, ranging in age from 61 to 92, and 1 of them was from a residential institution.

In terms of vaccination records of death cases, 5 people received three injections, 3 people received two injections, 1 one injection, and 1 person had no injection record.

After the government canceled the press conference on the epidemic, the press release stated that there are "three noes" in the epidemic, including details of no deaths, a list of institutions with no outbreaks, and a list of schools with no reported cases.

The CHP's epidemic news release only provides information on weekdays, but the list of institutions and schools previously announced at press conferences is not available.

Take today's Sunday as an example. During the press conference on weekdays, it is mentioned that although the number of new reports received from schools is relatively small, the number of confirmed teachers and students and the list of schools that need to suspend classes will be explained.

As for the HA press release, it did not take the initiative to provide details such as the ratio of male to female death cases, age, injection situation and onset history, which were announced at the press conference on weekdays.
