There was a lot of speculation, on Sunday Michael Müller (CSU) let the cat out of the bag.
"I want to run again in the 2026 mayoral election."
Geretsried - There was a lot of speculation, at the regulars' table of his party on Sunday, Michael Müller (CSU) let the cat out of the bag.
"I would like to run again in the 2026 mayoral election," announced the 53-year-old.
So far he has kept a low profile as to whether he will run for a third time for the post of chief in the town hall.
Some even speculated that he wanted to make a political career at the state or federal level.

So Müller now wants to remain mayor of the largest city in the district.
As the main motivation, he named important future issues such as the construction of a district heating network, the further development of the city center and the expansion of local public transport.
In allusion to the soon to begin geothermal drilling in Gelting and other projects, Müller was stubborn.
"As mayor, I want to keep drilling the thick rocks," he promised.

Michael Müller (CSU) will run for mayor for a third time
Should Müller be re-elected in 2026, it would be his third term.
In 2014, the CSU man succeeded Cornelia Irmer (non-party).
Robert Lug (Free Voters) and Hans Hopfner (SPD) ran with him at the time.
Müller won the runoff against Lug.
In the 2020 election, the incumbent won easily in the first ballot - against his challengers Martina Raschke (Greens), Wolfgang Werner (SPD) and Larry Terwey (FDP).
Müller is married twice and has two children.
