Today, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, in cooperation with the Mithqal Foundation, honored forty inmates at the Khalid Bin Al-Waleed Institute for the Care and Reform of Juvenile Delinquents, who used their time in education and training in barbering and carpentry professions.

A school was opened inside the institute's headquarters in Qudsaya in the Damascus countryside, after maintenance was carried out.

The honoring ceremony included the presentation of technical paragraphs focused on the awareness aspect and motivating the inmates to come up with educational and professional experiences, in addition to honoring a number of successful experiences in the general certificate exams.

Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Muhammad Seif El-Din said in a statement to reporters that the role offered by the institute is reformist by focusing on the educational and professional aspect, through coordination with a group of concerned authorities, noting that the honor aims to motivate inmates to reach active and productive people.

Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, Muhammad Al-Mithqal, explained that the honoring comes within the framework of the Foundation’s plans to contribute to building an empowered generation that can contribute to the reconstruction in the future, pointing out that there are a set of programs that the Foundation is working on in the health, educational and development fields, in addition to a set of community initiatives.

The director of the institute explained that the institute includes age groups from 15 to 18 years, and a range of services and vocational training is provided, noting that most of the existing groups have passed the literacy stage, in addition to training on a range of crafts such as barbering and carpentry, explaining that the institute offers a range of Entertainment programs, handicrafts and sports matches.

The representative of the Child Rights Association at the Al-Ghazali Institute for the Reform of Juvenile Delinquents, Abdul Karim Al-Latif indicated that the association works in the institute according to an agreement signed with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in 2010, indicating that the association focuses its work on the psychological, social and educational aspect and the establishment of literacy courses, in addition to recreational activities and athletic.

Nisreen Hama, responsible for the educational department of the Syrian Society for Social Development at the institute, indicated that the institute provides extra-curricular education, in addition to the various educational stages and regular curricula, and follow-up of dropout students through a group of experienced professors.
