He shaped the Karl-Eberth-Haus in Steingaden for 25 years.
Now Christoph Scherer is saying goodbye.
Steingaden
- The "3 star G" classified Karl-Eberth-Haus enjoys a very good reputation beyond Germany due to its location, its ambience, its food and last but not least its hospitality.
More than 18,000 overnight stays a year (up to and including 2019) are impressive proof of its popularity.
Managing Director Christoph Scherer has a significant share in this.
When he became boss there on July 1, 1997, the conference and educational center was still operating under the name "Rüstzeitenheim General-Eberth-Haus".
Since then, he has not only steered the fortunes of the house, but was also responsible for numerous attractiveness-enhancing measures.
Then as now, Scherer feels committed to military chaplaincy.
After all, the house is subordinate to the Evangelical State Working Group for Soldier Care in Bavaria, Baden and Württemberg.
High reputation among guests and employees
Due to a personnel development in Munich, their office was relocated to the Karl-Eberth-Haus in July 2021.
Since then, the associated tasks have also been carried out in Steingaden and to a large extent by Christoph Scherer.
And that in addition to the already numerous obligations as managing director.
Just as he enjoys a high reputation among the guests who have been coming here for decades, Scherer can also be sure of the loyalty of the employees of his house due to his caring nature.
In all these years it has never been difficult for him to assert his claim to leadership, and he also confidently led the house through the pandemic years 2020 and 2021.
With his business acumen and foresight, he was also able to avoid an economic slump for the Karl-Eberth-Haus.
The successor has already been determined
That involved a lot of effort, which also included persuasion.
This was necessary, for example, when the employees affected by short-time work waived their Christmas bonus for both years due to the absence of guests due to Corona.
The 16 permanent employees, almost all of whom have been working there for many years, and several mini-jobbers are now working at full capacity again.
Scherer's deputy and future boss in the Karl-Eberth-Haus, Bettina Schulz, has been on site for over ten years now.
Over the years she has successfully performed the tasks on behalf of the outgoing managing director, which also promises a work characterized by continuity in the future.
This Sunday, almost 100 guests from near and far will say goodbye to Christoph Scherer in the Karl-Eberth-Haus.
