In its most recent meeting, the Lenggrieser municipal council decided to convert the street lamps to LEDs.

There is actually a subsidy for this, but the municipality does not take advantage of it.

Lenggries – The Brauneck village is converting.

The street lamps in Lenggries are to be converted to LED technology.

The council passed this unanimously at its most recent meeting.

According to City Hall manager Tobias Riesch, there are 900 lights in the local area.

877 of these are managed by Bayernwerke.

Lenggries is switching to LED: these options are available

Alexander Usselmann from the municipal management of Bayernwerke explained the options for modernization.

New lamps can be used or the entire electronic insert can be replaced.

The third variant is to replace the entire lamp head.

Power consumption could be reduced by half

317 of the lamps in Lenggries can be modernized - for 114,000 euros - 539 have already been converted to LED technology or newly installed.

The current power consumption of almost 121,000 kilowatt hours per year could be reduced by about half.

Among other things, because the LED lights can be set so that they reduce their output between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Switch to LED desired as soon as possible, but funding is possible in mid-2023 at the earliest

Günter Haubner (FW) advocated changing quickly in view of the rising energy prices.

He wanted to know how long it would take for the change to take place.

Three to six months, Usselmann said.

He confirmed Haubner's statement: "Since the beginning of the year there has been a price increase for lamps of 20 to 35 percent."

Only the funding options are complicated.

As Riesch reported, subsidies of 70 to 90 percent would be possible.

"But the government is only now processing the notifications from the end of 2021. So funding would not be expected until mid-2023 at the earliest." In order to start with the expansion, the funding notification would have to be awaited.

Mayor doesn't want to wait for funding

"The funding opportunities are lengthy," said Mayor Stefan Klaffenbacher.

“I tend to switch rather than wait for a grant.

Especially in the current energy crisis, where it can be assumed that electricity prices will rise sharply.” Street lighting is currently the fourth largest electricity consumer in the community.

Funds that were actually intended for midday care are to be used for lanterns

Franz Schöttl (CSU) wanted to know where the funds come from, since the changeover has not yet been considered in the budget.

"Since we are not building a new lunchtime care now, we have funds available," explained Klaffenbacher.

If the upgrade to LED technology does not take place so quickly, space would be made for it in the 2023 budget, said Treasurer Michael Wenig.

Usselmann said a spring conversion was likely.

“There is no point in waiting for funding.

We recommend leaving them out.” The Lenggrieser councilors saw that as well.

Now the work has to be put out to tender.

This should be decided at the next meeting if possible.
