The Agricultural Subcommittee in Deir ez-Zor has set the second of next October as the date for marketing the cotton crop in the governorate.
The director of the Deir ez-Zor gin, Eng. Hani Al-Mofdi, indicated that the cotton season will be supplied to the gin and the cottons will be received from the farmers and weighed in the grain center weighing after placing them in trucks designated by the General Organization for Ginning and Cotton Marketing to be transported from Deir ez-Zor to the gins of the central and northern regions at the expense of the institution.
Al-Mofdi pointed to coordination between the General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing, the Deir ez-Zor Farmers' Union, the Agricultural Bank, and agricultural and peasant associations to facilitate the marketing process.
In turn, the Director of Agriculture, Engineer Fouad Abdoun, stated that the farmers have started harvesting operations and the condition of the cotton crop is good and heralds a distinguished season after the requirements of agricultural production were secured for the farmers and the distribution of the seed type (Deir 22) to them, which is the approved type and suitable for the nature and weather in the governorate.
Abdoun explained that the area planted with the cotton crop in the governorate for the current season is 4950 hectares, and the condition of the crop is continuously monitored by the Prevention Department, as there are no injuries except for light individual injuries that were treated immediately.
The Director of the Agricultural Bank in Deir ez-Zor, Engineer Muhammad Akal, also indicated the bank's readiness to provide support to farmers and to pay the values of cotton directly, in addition to securing the necessary paralysis for marketing.
