With the ordination and induction of the new pastor Lydia Hartmann, the evangelical parish of Au had a major event to celebrate.

Au/Hallertau

- A nine-month vacancy was officially ended with the inauguration, which could at least be cushioned by the pastoral "co-care" of Pastor Frank Möwes from Mainburg and a lot of additional commitment from the church community.

After the pastors Markus Krusche, Julian Lademann and Sophie Schuster, Lydia Hartmann is the fourth clergyman who has been looking after the 1,600 Protestant parishioners in the Au, Nandlstadt, Attenkirchen, Rudelzhausen, Zolling and Wolfersdorf areas since 1993 - hopefully over them three years, which are currently identified as the first period for the pastor.

On Saturday, regional bishop Christian Kopp, dean Christian Weigl, pastor Frank Möwes and pastor Christa Stegschuster came to the ordination on a large number of “black coats” (Stegschuster quote).

The secular community was also well represented with district administrator Helmut Petz, the mayors Hans Sailer from Au and Matthias Kern from Attenkirchen.

The same applies to the eight members of the church council led by Mrs. Christine Forster and church orderly Heiner Barth, while the interest of the other believers was fairly manageable.

Of course, her husband Philipp and her three-year-old daughter Flora also came along, and Hartmann's parents also sat in the front row.

After readings and intercessions, all eyes turned to the most important act of the morning, when Regional Bishop Christian Kopp laid his hands on Pastor Lydia Hartmann to symbolize the passing on of power and authority for the new office.

Important people, some of whom were chosen by the pastor herself, were also actively involved in the laying on of hands and expressed their very personal wishes for the young pastor.

The fact that she may succeed in starting out in Au, that she is well qualified for this due to her training and previous career, was mentioned in all speeches.

The ordination took place on Saturday in the evangelical community center - musically framed by Dominik Leipold on the organ, brass band sounds by Junior Brass and the trio "Ensemble Hochwart".

Regional bishop Christian Kopp saw the line "I am what I am" from Gloria Gaynor's song as a good motto: despite some regulations, the young pastor should not be dissuaded from her own path and her own way.

The confidante Christine Forster left no doubt that Hartmann was well received in the parish.

This also applies to the family.

To emphasize this, Forster gave three-year-old Flora a small plush toy.

District administrator Helmut Petz recognized parallels in the new pastor's CV, since he, like Lydia Hartmann, only came to the district from Munich two years ago and felt that he was in very good hands here.

There was one difference though: "I had to be elected."

Mayor Hans Sailer saw the lettering “Markt Au – do bin i dahoam” on his gift bag as a good motto, and Mayor Mathias Kern also presented flowers.

In her first words, the 36-year-old pastor made it clear that she was happy about her new task and wanted to devote herself to it with full confidence.

She was not only well received in the parish, says Lydia Hartmann, referring to little Flora, who is already going to kindergarten on Klosterberg.
